Fractures

Therapist is stretching the patient's shoulder.Fractures, or breaks, to the bone commonly occur due to some form of trauma such as a fall or an accident.  Fractures can also result from genetic disorders or deterioration of bone health.

During the immobilization period following a fracture, loss of strength and motion results, hindering the individuals ability to reach, walk, grasp, or dress for example.  Physical therapy is designed to restore soft tissue mobility, joint mobility, range of motion, and strength to ideally allow the patient full return to previous functional level.

Depending on your personal situation, physical therapy will help your recovery and may help prevent future fractures.
