P
osture is a measure of the overall balances in the body and can be used as a tool to assess if daily routines have resulted in a change in overall body balance. Your physical therapist can assess your current posture and compare it to “ideal” posture. Variations from this ideal help the therapist determine which areas of your body prevent full mechanical ability. The goal of the physical therapist is to restore the body’s mechanical abilities. In addition to postural education and awareness, some procedures to restore these abilities may include exercise, stretching, manual techniques, and other modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and heat or ice.
